Mission Work and Ministry

In addition to our work within the Southwest Conference of the United Church of Christ, the Missions Ministry focuses our congregation’s attention to specific needs within the local community in which we worship. There are no requirements to be involved in any project, the Missions Ministry simply presents them as opportunities for members and friends who feel called to participate. Some projects are specific to the month, others span several months, and there are a few we support throughout the year.

When asked what items the Food Bank most needed, they answered, “Everything.”

The first Sunday of every month we collect nonperishable food items to donate to ICS. This is an excellent partnership to help support our local community. Bring your non-perishable food donations to church with you Sunday morning!

Below is a helpful list of items that are always needed:

Peanut butter
Jelly (no glass)
Spaghetti sauce (no glass)
Noodles
Canned vegetables
Canned meats
Soups
Granola bars
Oatmeal
Vege or chicken stock
Apple sauce

Tabitha’s Kindness

Education Ministry

Small groups gather to support their spiritual growth and to expand their understanding of scripture by participation in our Education Ministry. This group may take a deeper look at one of the books of the bible or choose to read a novel to discuss. The participants of the Education Ministry decide their curriculum.

OVUCC Bible Study will resume September 5th, 2023

WORSHIP MINISTRY

OVUCC gathers to sing, pray, receive communion and listen to crafted messages from scripture text. Our Worship Ministry strives to make sure what one sees moves their hearts and mind to focus on God. Oro Valley UCC is a liturgical church following the colors of the Christian calendar. Members and friends on the Worship Ministry serve as greeter, assist with communion and the collection of the offering.

CARING MINiSTry

The Caring Ministry Group supports all members and friends of OVUCC to remain connected. Caring Ministry Lay Leaders are trained by the UCC Caring Call to Care model for homebound persons, those hospitalized or in care facilities and those experiencing grief. At the guidance of the Pastor, the Caring Ministry Group provides visits, phone calls and cards. This group helps with the planning of funeral and memorial services.

Seeking information for a memorial or funeral service for a loved one? Please call our Office Manager (520-742-7333) during office hours: Wednesday 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If you are calling after office hours, leave a voice message and our Pastor, Office Manager or a Caring Ministry member will contact you as soon as possible. You may send an email inquiry to office@orovalleyucc.org

Building and Grounds Ministry

Our beautiful grounds are maintained by the women and men on our Building and Grounds Ministry. This ministry also supports the members and friends who are artists communicating through painting, sculpting, photography and crafts with soft metals.
